Description
In the 19th century, the brick church of St. Alexey was built on the outskirts of the town of Smolyany. You won't notice the church right away. But if you come to Smolyany and start looking around in the very center, you will see a tall red brick tower in the distance. This is our historical monument. The church has survived to our time neglected. Next to it is a chapel - a burial ground.

Smolyany. Church of St. Alyaksei (ruins).
In 1864, a red brick church was built in Smolyany on the outskirts of the town in honor of St. Alexey. The temple is a monument of architecture retrospectively - Russian style. And it was built according to the canons of the time from 4 parts: Bell tower, refectory, prayer hall and three-sided apse. The church has two vertical dominants: a two-tiered quadrilateral belfry topped by a tabernacle and a spherical dome on an octagonal light drum above a four-pitched roof that sits above a central cube-shaped volume. There are high arched window openings on the facades. Next to the church on the left side is a chapel - the burial place of the local nobles Titovy, who had a small estate here in Smolyany. Until now, only farm buildings and a park remain. The chapel near the church is low, four-sided with a crypt - a burial place. Burials are looted. The floor covered with colored tiles with a pattern has been preserved in the chapel. The church and the chapel are in a state of disrepair.
