The House of Officers in Polotsk.

In the heart of ancient Polotsk stands the Officers' House, a magnificent example of Stalinist architecture, built in 1938. Originally named the House of the Red Army, it was not just a building, but the epicenter of the cultural and military life of the city, a place of service and a center of attraction for the entire garrison.

During the Great Patriotic War, the House of Officers shared the tragic fate of the city. The occupiers used it for their own purposes, and during their retreat they set it on fire, leaving only ruins of the building. It seemed that the fire would erase him from history forever. But the walls stood firm, becoming a silent witness to heroism and a symbol of the indomitable will of the Polochans.

After the liberation of Polotsk in 1944, an incredible recovery from the ashes began. In the most difficult conditions, overcoming the devastation and lack of resources, the residents of the city brick by brick returned the House of Officers to its former appearance. Already in 1947, it opened its doors again, becoming a center of cultural life, a venue for concerts, exhibitions and celebrations. This feat is a vivid testimony of love for his hometown and respect for its history.

Unfortunately, in the early 2000s, the building gradually lost its importance, and plans to create a cultural and business center were never implemented. The House of Officers began to decline, risking disappearing forever from the map of Polotsk.

But history ordered otherwise. In June 2023, the long-awaited revival of the architectural monument began. During the reconstruction, the priority was to preserve the authentic appearance of the building and eliminate emergency areas. And already in June 2024, the work was completed.

Today, the Officers' House has found a new life as one of the buildings of Polotsk State University. It is symbolic that the military department is located here.

Now, as before, the House of Officers plays an important role in the development of education and culture in the region, reminding of the glorious past and opening up new horizons for the future. This is not just a restored building, it is a symbol of rebirth, a monument of perseverance and love for its history.
