The picturesque ruins of the old mill in the Moshchyony village.

The mill was built under the supervision of architect Schroeder at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Bricks for construction were made nearby, on the right bank of the Berezka River.

It is known that the steam boiler for the mill was imported from Germany itself. It traveled the way from Bogushevsk to Moshchyony on a large horse-drawn sleigh.

The mill began its work between 1880 and 1890. Locals say that in Soviet times, when the mill fell into disrepair and was abandoned, the villagers were allowed to dismantle the building. However, the secret of the durable mortar used in the masonry turned out to be insurmountable – the bricks crumbled under the blows, unable to be dismantled.

Unfortunately, after being forgotten during the Soviet period, time and nature took their toll, leaving us with only impressive ruins reminiscent of the former industrial scale of this place.

Visiting the ruins of the mill in Moshchyony village is an opportunity to touch the history and imagine how life was here in the past.
