Oranchitsy. Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.
In the Pruzhany district there is a place called Oranchitsy, where the Lezhensky estate once stood and the stone Orthodox Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross has been preserved to this day.
The place was first mentioned in documents during the era of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in the 16th century and when the Orange family lived here. In the era of King Sigismund Augustus, the Orange estate was founded in 1560. They built a wooden palace here. Researchers believe that the name of the place came from the surname of the owners of the estate. After some time, the estate passed to the Izhitsky family, and then to the Lezhenskys.
During the time of the Russian Empire, in 1914, a stone Orthodox church was built on the outskirts of the town. Until now, there was a wooden church on this site. The temple was built according to a standard design in the retrospective-Russian style.
The building consists of four canonical main parts forming an elongated axial composition: the vestibule, the refectory, the prayer hall and the apse. A multi-tiered eight–on-four bell tower has been erected above the vestibule, which is completed with a high multi-faceted spire with an onion dome.
The interior has a wooden iconostasis and ancient icons from the 18th century.: "Our Lady of Odigitria" and "Saint Nicholas".
