Pruzhany. White shops
Landmark
Belarus, Brest region, Pruzhany, Sovetskaya street, 2
Description
The stone trading rows in Pruzhany, which are popularly called "White Shops", appeared in the middle of the XIX century, in 1867, designed by architects Savich and Mikhailovsky. Their layout was typical for that time – an elongated rectangle of red brick, divided into sections and framed by a gallery of arches.
The uniqueness of this architectural monument lies in the mixture of Baroque and classicism styles. There are few similar examples of architecture left in Belarus. Previously, there was also a passage to the courtyard, designed for storing, transporting and unloading goods.
