Description
The phytoaptheca in the village of Rubezhevichi is a rare monument of traditional medicine, founded in 1875. Its development is connected with the pharmacist Stanislav Vilkotsky, who preserved and popularized the traditions of herbal medicine in post-war Belarus. The pharmacy became an herbal treatment center, despite the decline of interest in folk medicine in the USSR. By the 1970s, it remained one of the three phytoapteks in the territory of the Soviet Union, preserving the unique recipes and atmosphere of the old Belarusian town.

Novye Rubezhevichi. Phytoaptheca.
The phytoapteka, located in the village of Rubezhevichi, Stolbtsy district, Minsk region, was founded in 1875. Its history began with the receipt of an official permit for pharmacy activities in 1865, issued under Tsar Alexander II. Over time, this institution has become a unique center of traditional medicine.
Since 1946, the pharmacy has been run by Stanislav Ivanovich Vilkotsky, a local pharmacist who devoted his life to the development of herbal medicine. He collected recipes, studied rare sources and preserved the traditions of herbal treatment, despite the fact that in the 1960s phytotherapy was recognized as unpromising in the USSR.
By the 1970s, phytoapteks had been preserved on the territory of the Soviet Union only in Lvov, Vilnius and Rubezhevichi. The pharmacy in Rubezhevichi has become not only a place of sale of medicinal plants, but also a repository of folk knowledge. Here you could get treatment advice based on many years of experience and traditional practices.
The village of Rubezhevichi is a picturesque place that has preserved the architectural appearance of an old Belarusian town. The phyto-pharmacy fits seamlessly into this environment, and local residents and local historians continue to support the pharmacy traditions.
Inside the pharmacy you can see collections of medicinal herbs, ancient recipes, photographs and archival materials telling about the history of herbal medicine. Visitors have the opportunity to purchase natural collections and learn about the healing properties of plants, immersing themselves in the atmosphere of the past.
