Description
The building housing the zemstvo administration appeared in Senno in 1910 or, according to some sources, in 1914. The exterior of the building is distinguished by the sophistication of decorative elements. Throughout its history, the building has performed various functions. Nowadays, the Senno Historical and Ethnographic Museum is located in the right wing of the first floor. This historical building, built around 1910-1914 at the expense of local residents and entrepreneurs, immediately attracts attention with its elegant facade, made in the classical style. The pediment, columns and wrought-iron balcony create a harmonious image that emphasizes the status and importance of this building for the local community.
Throughout its history, the building has served various functions: government offices, administrative offices, and public organizations have been located here. In Soviet times, it became the center of the cultural life of the district, but today its importance has not decreased.
The Senno Museum of Local Lore occupies the right wing of the ground floor, where expositions revealing the rich past of the region, its cultural heritage and natural features are presented. Visitors can get acquainted with archaeological finds, ethnographic exhibits and photographs of the past.
In addition, the building has a children's library, which is becoming an important center of education and leisure for young residents of the city.
