Ostrovno. The Church of the Holy Trinity.

The Holy Trinity Church has witnessed many historical events. After its significant destruction, restoration turned out to be possible thanks to the efforts of Vitebsk governor Michal Patey.

Mstislav Voivode Alexander Sapega also contributed to the development of this spiritual center by building a monastery nearby and inviting monks of the Dominican Order, which contributed to the further cultural and religious development of the region. With the foundation of the monastery in 1622, its active use began.

A new page in the history of the church began in 1873, when the church was rebuilt into an Orthodox church. This process also entailed changes in the interior and exterior, in particular, elements of the pseudo-Russian style were added.

 The architecture of the temple building is interesting for its conciseness and monumentality: the three-nave basilica with a bell tower looks impressive, and the powerful walls, 1 meter thick, and wide shoulder blades create a sense of reliability and stability. The main nave with its rectangular shape and gable roof emphasize the rigor and grandeur of this structure.

During the Soviet years, the temple was closed and turned into a warehouse, which led to its desolation.

Today, the Holy Trinity Church not only serves as a place of worship, but is also a historical and cultural heritage that reflects the spiritual traditions and architectural trends of its time.

The territory of the church is fenced off and construction work is underway on it.
