Makarovshchina. St. Nicholas Church.

The building of St. Nicholas Church is today a striking example of eclecticism. Eclecticism in architecture is characterized by a mixture of different styles and elements, which allows you to create unique and expressive forms. In the case of St. Nicholas Church, one can observe a combination of traditional Orthodox elements with the influence of other architectural styles, which makes it interesting from the point of view of cultural and historical heritage.

On March 9, 1930, the last rector of the church, Filagri Kostko, was sentenced to five years in prison in camps for creating a "kulak collective" in the Makarovshchina. The church was closed. During the war, a garrison of policemen was stationed within its walls, guarding the route to the military airfield in Ulla.

In the post-war years, the local collective farm used the temple as a grain storage warehouse.

Since the early 1990s, local residents have begun efforts to rebuild the church.

Currently, a parish has been established at the temple and divine services are being held. The restoration work continues. Plastic windows are installed, locks are on the doors, and tools are visible inside. The exterior renovation has obviously not been carried out for a long time, but the old white paint gives it visibility and attractiveness.

The temple is located on a hill, which makes it difficult for the elderly to climb.

Today, St. Nicholas Church serves not only religious purposes, but is also an important cultural site for the local community, preserving the memory of the region's past and traditions.
