Grodno. House-museum of Maxim Bogdanovich.

The Grodno period in the life of Maxim Bogdanovich was short-lived (1892-1896), but in the city on the Neman the poet's memory is valued and revered. In the mid-1960s, local authorities chose one of the houses that existed in Grodno at the time when the poet's family lived there. On May 6, 1965, a memorial plaque was unveiled on this house in the presence of Bogdanovich's relatives (the building was built in 1888 and is included in the State List of Historical and Cultural Values of Belarus as part of the historical center of Grodno).

Work on the creation of the museum began in 1985. The famous poetess Danuta Bichel developed the exhibition "Maksim Bogdanovich - a classic of Belarusian literature and his era", which was ceremonially opened on May 16, 1986. The museum received the status of the literary department of the Grodno State Historical and Archaeological Museum.

The first exposition of the museum was located in four rooms. The current exposition was created in 1992. It consists of two halls (Grodno period of life of the Bogdanovich family and Literary and social movement in Belarus in the second half of the 19th - early 20th centuries), four memorial rooms (father's office, living room, women's and children's rooms), as well as the exposition "Literary Grodno Region" dedicated to outstanding writers and poets of the Nieman region.

Today, the museum's collections contain more than 14,000 storage units. The furnishings of the house exactly replicate those that were here when the Bogdanovichs lived here. Among the exhibits are the poet's personal belongings, his letters, photographs, paintings from that period, and items from the late 19th century. One of the most interesting and valuable exhibits of this museum is two collections of the poet's poems called "Vyanok". These are unique books that were published during the poet's lifetime.

The museum regularly hosts exhibitions, literary evenings, lectures and seminars. It is possible to take a virtual tour of the museum at the following link: https://grodno-museum.by/wp-content/bogdanovich/index.html
