Description
The city of Grodno is probably the most beautiful regional city of Belarus. And when guests and tourists come here, they first of all visit castles and ancient temples. And they either do not have enough time or energy for the church. And many do not even know that if you walk a little behind the pedestrian street and go behind the Yanka Kupala University, you will see two beautiful churches: the Orthodox Pokrovskaya Church and the Lutheran Church. The church was built in the 19th century. Restored. Functioning.

If you walk around Grodno and go out to Eliza Ozheshko Street, you will come to the Yanka Kupala University. Opposite the university you can see the Orthodox Pokrovskaya Church, and behind the educational institution – a Protestant church, the spire of which rises above the surrounding area.
The church is considered to have been founded in the 18th century, when the last king of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, Stanislav August Poniatowski, gave the German community a canteen building for the church, which was visited by German and Dutch artisans working in Grodno. In the 19th century, the church was significantly completed, and by 1873 the final appearance of the temple had been formed. A clock was installed on the tower.
At the beginning of the 20th century, the church building was rebuilt. During the Soviet era, an archive operated here. And only in 1995, the church was transferred to the Evangelical Lutheran Church. In 2015, restoration was carried out.
The church is a single-nave temple with an attached pentagonal apse. The vertical dominant is the monumental bell tower. The temple is active and can be visited.
