Berezino. The distillery building.
Landmark
Belarus, Minsk district, Berezino, Pobedy St., 1
Description
In 1892, representatives of the Pototski family of counts built a distillery in Berezino, architecturally designed in the spirit of industrial eclecticism.
Despite the numerous changes of government over the past century, alcohol production has never been interrupted. Berezino distillery continues to operate at the present time. An old red brick building with large window openings has been preserved on its territory.
Thanks to this building, which is one of the most notable sights of the city, the local distillery is recognized as one of the most attractive in the country.
It is noteworthy that in its long history, this building has never undergone a large-scale reconstruction, moreover, it does not rely on a foundation, but on oak logs.
However, in order to carefully inspect the building, it is necessary to first arrange with the local security, since the historical object is located on the territory of an operating enterprise.

Berezino distillery is an ornament of its city, a valuable architectural monument.
The current distillery in Berezino is undoubtedly an ornament of this city.
The history of Berezino distillery is closely connected with the Pototski family. They built a manor house in Berezino, which, unfortunately, is now in disrepair. In 1853, the Pototskis founded the distillery, which was originally located in a wooden building. The stone building that we know today was built in 1892 and is an architectural monument.
After the revolution, the factory was nationalized. In the 1930s, a power plant and a laboratory appeared here. In 1958, the product range expanded: juices and starch began to be produced.
The plant has been operating continuously for 117 years and is part of the Minsk-Kristall holding as workshop No. 6. It produces up to 2,000 liters of raw alcohol per day. Despite the management changes, alcohol has always been produced here from potatoes and rye malt. The quality of the products is time-tested.
A stone pedestal has been preserved in the vault, on which there was a barrel for measuring alcohol. It is believed that about 25 such barrels were produced per day.
It should be borne in mind that the distillery is operational and guarded, so it can be difficult to get into the territory. But this place is worth seeing!
Berezino Distillery is one of the most beautiful buildings in Belarus, made in the style of industrial eclecticism. Eclecticism is an architectural trend that combines different styles.
The factory building is built of red brick and rubble stone, with contrasting white windows. The building stands on oak logs and has hardly been rebuilt, therefore it is a valuable architectural monument.
