Description
By some miracle, a beautiful Neo–Gothic church in Bogushevichi has been preserved in the wooded and swampy expanses between Mogilev and Minsk. This place is located 20 kilometers from Berezino. Previously, Bogushevichi belonged to the Sventorzhetskys, who built the church of the Body of God in the 19th century as a family chapel-tomb. The Sventorzhetsky manor has not survived to our time, and the church is a real decoration of these places. Just behind the church there is a small river Usa. Near the church there is a highway and a large clearing on the river bank. So it will be convenient to park cars here and you can sit on the riverbank to relax after visiting the architectural monument. The church is not always open. And if you want to see the interior of a Catholic church, then you should call the priest in advance.

Bogushevichi. The Church of the Body of God
On the way from Minsk to Berezino in Berezinsky district there is a right turn to Bogushevichi. This is an ancient place on the Usa River, which has been known since the 16th century. In the 17th century, Prince Drutsky-Gorsky founded the first church here. The town was owned at different times by the Zavishi, Vankovichi and Sventorzhetsky. There was a marina and a watermill on the river.
In the 19th century, the Sventorzhetskys built the Church of the Body of God, which was part of the manor and park ensemble. The church was used as a family chapel-tomb for the Sventorzhetskys. During the anti–Russian uprising in 1863-1864, the Sventorzhetskys took an active part, and by order of Count Muravyov, their estate was burned down. During the uprising, the rebels produced and stored weapons in the cellars of the church.
The church building is made of stone, built in the Neo-Gothic style. It is hexagonal in plan and has a centric composition. The apse is attached from the river side - this is the direction to the West. Buttresses are attached to the corners along the perimeter of the church, which are completed by small four-sided turrets. The interior of the church is decorated with stucco ribs. The staircase leads to the choirs, which are decorated with an openwork fence made in the technique of cast iron casting. The chapel once had a crypt with the graves of the Sventorzhetsky family.
