The stone Catholic church is a monument of eclectic architecture with features of neo-Baroque and neoclassicism of the early 20th century.
The Church of St. John the Baptist was built in the early 20th century and is an example of a monument of eclectic architecture with neo-Baroque and neoclassical features. The church was built to meet the spiritual needs of local Catholics.
When creating the project of this temple, the architect used elements typical of the late Baroque. At the same time, the church has neoclassical features, including pediments and semi-columns, which, along with arched windows, determine the appearance of the church.
The interior of the church is decorated with beautiful altars and statues of saints. The central element in the interior is a neoclassical altar decorated with six white columns, at the top of which there are figures of angels on both sides. The walls of the temple are decorated with paintings in the neo-Baroque style. A striking feature of the decoration are through lunettes, thanks to which the interior of the church acquires special lighting.
Throughout its history, the temple has experienced various historical events, including wars and changes in the political situation in the region. The church was able to survive during the war years. In the Soviet years, the church continued to be active and, surprisingly, did not close.
Today, the church is actively used for worship services and other religious events. It also attracts tourists and pilgrims interested in history and architecture.
The Church of St. John the Baptist is an important part of the cultural heritage of the Benyakoni agro-town and a symbol of the Catholic faith in this region. It also remains an important object for studying the history and culture of Belarus.
Next to the church is the grave of Adam Mickiewicz's muse, Maria Vereshchaki. In the 19th century, she visited a wooden Catholic church on this estate.
