Description
The oldest building in the district town of Voronovo is considered to be the palace of the Scipios, who began to run the place from the beginning of the 18th century. Some researchers write that the palace was built in the 18th century, while others say that in the 19th century.
The single-storey stone bridge has a symmetrical composition. A park and two outbuildings have been preserved near the palace. In Soviet times, there was a school in the former estate.

Voronovo. The Scipios Palace.
Not far from the border with Lithuania there is a small rural town of Voronovo, with only a few thousand inhabitants. The place traces its history back to the 16th century and it was called Bolotno at that time, since a small rivero Bolotnyanka flows here.
During the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, the town belonged to the Gasthold magnates, who financed the church here. Then the Bolotno estate belonged to the Davoins, and at the beginning of the 18th century to Masevich, Mstislav voivode. In the 1720s, the Scipios became the new owners. Their first owner was Jan Scipio del Campo, the headman of Lida and the castellan of Smolensk.
Researchers believe that the modern name of the town of Voronovo (ex-Verenevo) came from the name of the wife of Scipio's son, whose name was Verena. In 1735, Jan Scipio founded a school and a college of public relations at a Catholic monastery in Voronovo. Then this collegium was transferred to another city. It is believed that it was the Scipios who built the stone palace, which has survived to our time.
Since 1893, Voronov was owned by representatives of the Zaretsky family. Then Schwanebach acquired the estate in Zaretsky.
A park and two lakes have been preserved near the former palace to our time. Once there was a lime alley leading to the estate, but the trees are outdated and they have recently been cut down. Two outbuildings have been preserved nearby, which were built for servants. There was a school in the palace under the Soviet Union.
The Scipio Palace looks quite modest. It is a stone one-storey building. It was probably built originally in the Baroque style, and then rebuilt in the 19th century under classicism. Some researchers write that the building was erected in the 19th century.
Now the palace is mismanaged. The school was moved to another building.
