Svir. Old Believers Assumption Church.
A wooden Old Believer Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary was built in the village of Svir, Myadel district. There are many monuments of architecture, archeology and antiquity in the village.
There is also a beautiful large lake Svir, along which the village is built. If you drive along Svir down Sovetskaya Street from the Catholic church of St. Nicholas, you will see a high mound on the right - this is the Hillfort, or Castle Hill, where the castle of the princes of Svirsky was once. Near the Hillfort you will see several one- and two-storey stone buildings in the eclectic style.
Then you will drive along the Naberezhnaya (Embankment) street, and on the left you will look at the panorama of the lake. Private houses have been built along the street, and you will come across a small building with a tower on the roof. This is the prayer house of the Old Believers, or the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The monument was erected at the beginning of the 20th century during the time of the Polish state. The building was built in the style of Belarusian folk wooden architecture. The church consists of a vestibule and a prayer hall. An onion dome has been erected on an octagonal drum above the main facade.
