Svir. Church of St. Nicholas.

There is a legend that the small urban settlement of Svir was founded in the 13th century. From the 14th to the 16th centuries, the residence of Prince Svirsky was located here, and then Svir became the property of the Radziwill family of counts. Today, such ancient buildings as a wooden church from the 19th century and the Church of St. Nicholas have been preserved in Svir.

The monumental Church of St. Nicholas is distinguished by its unique architectural composition in a retrospective style combined with the Baroque style. It was built in the mid-17th century and was completely rebuilt in 1909. Therefore, today it is very difficult to imagine what it looked like before. The only thing that has survived to this day is the side chapel. Four Baroque altars carved from wood have been preserved in the interior of the building. Here you can also see many other elements of the Baroque style - rich stucco, carved wooden frescoes.

It is known that in 1961 the church was closed, and a workshop for the production of car license plates was temporarily located here. Only since 1990 have regular services been resumed in the church.

Now the territory of the church is surrounded by a stone fence, on the territory there is an old bell, sculptures. Repair work is underway.

The Church of St. Nicholas is a majestic heritage of the history of Belarus, a unique historical monument that combines various styles in its architecture. This interesting place should be visited by all those who want to touch the history and ancient times of Belarus!
