Memorial to the Memory of the Disappeared Villages.

The opening of the memorial complex took place on June 30, 2009. It includes named boulders dedicated to the 13 village councils of the Vileika district and the city of Vileika. Each boulder shows the number of settlements that have disappeared for various reasons: due to the enlargement of settlements, the construction of the Vileika reservoir, the extinction of the rural population and, of course, the tragic events of the war.

Among the boulders, a stone in the shape of a fallen bell stands out, which symbolizes villages affected by the horrors of war, such as Khatyn. A wooden sculpture depicting a female figure in a flame enhances the emotional impact. Nearby there is a log cabin with a crane, a pole with a wheel for a stork's nest and the contours of a rural house. There are five such villages in the district.

The central element of the memorial is a 25-ton boulder with a call to stop and reflect on one's roots and the places where one was born.

The field stone path imitates a village street. 13 boulders arranged in a spiral (like a DNA molecule) symbolize the 13 village councils of the district. On each stone there is a plaque with the names of the disappeared villages. Another stone contains a list of villages included in Vileika.

Over the past half century, 253 out of 407 villages have disappeared in the Vileika district. The memorial complex is designed to remind visitors of their historical heritage, of the places that were once home to many people. It serves not only as a place of remembrance, but also as a symbol of respect for the history and culture of the region, reminding of the importance of preserving the memory of the past for future generations.
