The railway station building in Vileika is one of the oldest buildings in the city.
The railway station building in Vileika was built in 1906. Its appearance is due to the fact that the Sedletsko-Peterburgskaya railway passed through the city. The station building is designed in the characteristic architectural style of Art Nouveau for that time. It is characterized by symmetrical shapes, high windows and spacious halls, which creates an atmosphere of coziness and comfort for passengers.
In the period from 1920 to 1930, when Vileika was part of Poland, the building underwent noticeable changes due to the additional construction of an attic on the second floor, which housed apartments for railway employees. At the same time, windows disappeared at the ends of the building, giving way to doors. In this form, the station has been preserved to this day.
Vileika station is built of red brick and represents an integral architectural ensemble: a station with a buffet, a passenger platform, a water tower, office and outbuildings dating from the same historical era.
In September 1915, at the Vileika railway station, a representative of the Romanov dynasty, Prince Georgy Mikhailovich Romanov, on behalf of the Supreme Commander of the Russian Imperial Army, presented awards to soldiers who distinguished themselves in battle. In December of the same year, Emperor Nicholas 2 himself came here to inspect the army troops, who later wrote about it in his diary.
In 2019, the station was reconstructed, while the historical appearance of the building was completely preserved.
In 2021, the Vileisk Museum proposed to include the station building in the State List of Historical and Cultural Values of the Republic of Belarus with the assignment of category "3".
Over time, the station underwent renovation, which improved its infrastructure and passenger services. Modern amenities such as Wi-Fi, cafes and shops are currently available here.
The railway station in Vileika is not just a transport facility, but an important historical value and part of urban life that connects people and contributes to the development of the region.
