Natural site
Brest region, Ivatsevichi district, Obrovo village
Description
In the Ivatsevichi district, at the cemetery of the village of Obrovo, a real giant is growing.
This oak is a botanical natural monument protected by the state.
But it is not only unique in its age: a small colony of white storks has settled on its branches.
Such nesting is very rare for Belarus!
A place where centuries-old history is intertwined with wildlife.
Perfect for inspiration and beautiful photos.

The giant oak from Obrovo: guardian of the cemetery, who sheltered storks
In the Ivatsevichi district, in the quiet village of Obrovo, time flows differently. Here, in the old cemetery, there has been a giant oak tree for more than two centuries, which has seen what we can only see in yellowed photographs. Locals don't call it a giant for its own good: the tree is so massive and sprawling that its powerful branches seem to support the very sky above Brest region.
This oak is not just an ordinary tree. It has the proud status of a botanical natural monument and is under state protection. Imagine that: its roots began to draw juices from this land back in the early 19th century. He survived wars, changes of epochs and generations, becoming a silent witness to the history of the village of Obrovo.
But the main magic of this place lies not only in the venerable age or size of the trunk. The uniqueness of the oak is that it has become... a home.
A small but very noisy colony of white storks has settled on its branches. This is very rare for Belarus! Usually we are used to seeing a single nest on a water tower or pole, or a single "stork castle" on the roof of a barn. But it's not often that you see an entire colony building nests in one tree. The branches of the giant, like reliable terraces of a multi-storey building, hold several massive stork "apartments".
Imagine the picture: an ancient rural cemetery, in the center of which stands the patriarch oak, and above it white birds circle, bringing spring in their beaks. This place is saturated with both silence and life. Storks did not choose this particular tree by chance - they say they feel good energy and a safe place.
Photographers and travelers should definitely add this place to their wish list. This is an ideal location for those who are looking for unity with nature and want to see a rare example of symbiosis of centuries-old flora and fauna. People come here not only for a spectacular shot (and photos against the background of an oak tree with storks turn out to be magical), but also for the feeling of tranquility that this place gives.
The oak tree in Obrovo is not just a point on the map. It is a reminder of how fragile and at the same time eternal our nature is if we take care of it.
