Obrovo. Church of St. Michael the Archangel.
In the Ivatsevichi district in the village of Obrovo there is a wooden Orthodox church, which was consecrated in honor of St. Michael the Archangel. The temple was built during the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in 1754 and originally belonged to the Uniates.
And during the time of the Russian Empire in 1800, the church was rebuilt at the expense of the Orthodox landowner Evdokia Kozlyaninova. After the union was banned in 1839, the building was handed over to Orthodox believers.
In 1860, the Uniate chapel was rebuilt again. In Soviet times, after the Great Patriotic War in the 1960s, the shrine was closed. The building was handed over to the Orthodox only in the last years of the Soviet Union in 1990.
The monument was erected in the traditions of folk wooden architecture. The church consists of four main parts: the vestibule, the refectory, the prayer hall and the apse. A multi-tiered bell tower has been erected above the vestibule.
It is likely that the refectory with the vestibule and the bell tower were completed during the time of the Russian Empire. And initially, when the temple was Uniate, it was only the main volume with an apse.
The church has been renovated in recent years. The surrounding area is landscaped.
