The village of Mosar is a unique place (village) in the Glubokoye district of the Vitebsk region

The Church of St. Anne, built in the 18th century in the village of Mosar, is one of its main attractions.

On the territory of the church there is an ancient gate and fence from the 19th century, a number of unique religious sculptures, many of which are the only ones of their kind in Belarus, which makes Mosar a unique pilgrimage complex. The beautiful chapel, built in 1997, houses a copy of the Ostrobramskaya Icon of the Mother of God, while the chapel itself is a smaller copy of the original Ostrobramskaya chapel.

In 1988, Juozas Bulka was appointed rector of the church, having served there for more than 20 years. Thanks to the efforts of the priest, the village of Mosar received a new birth, turning into an oasis of beauty, which people began to call the “Belarusian Versailles”: he created a large botanical garden with sculptural copies of world-famous masterpieces.

Also, the rector of the church was known as a supporter of a healthy lifestyle and a fighter against drunkenness: under him, the village of Mosar, like the entire territory of the Udelovsky village council of the Glubokoe district of the Vitebsk region, became a “sober zone” where alcohol could not be found in stores (instead, they began selling lemonade ). In the former belfry of the church, a one-of-a-kind anti-alcohol museum was organized, to which local residents handed over their moonshine stills; their receipts stating that they refused to drink alcohol were kept in it.

Over time, an Alley of Sobriety was organized on the territory of the church, trees on which were planted by Societies of Anonymous (former) Alcoholics from Belarus, Poland and Lithuania.

This unusual exhibition also attracts the attention of all travelers.

Here you can spend the whole day studying various Catholic sculptures and learning about their symbolic meaning, as well as leisurely walking along the park along the alleys leading to a source with holy water rich in minerals, looking with interest at all the corners outlined by the green hedge. You simply don’t want to leave: the nature here is incredibly beautiful, and there is calm and tranquility in the air.
