Description
The original church of St. Onufriy the Great was built in the period from 1890 to 1900. It was a three-domed wooden building, which attracted many parishioners with its grandeur and simplicity. During the Great Patriotic War, the church was subjected to German bombing several times, however, despite all the trials, it remained unharmed and continued to serve its parishioners.
Unfortunately, during the retreat of the German army on April 7, 1944, the temple was burned by infantry, and it could not resist the onslaught of fire. After this tragic event, parishioners were forced to visit the Holy Trinity Church of the village of Peski in the Berezovsky district. This period lasted until 1994, when the parishioners were finally able to return to their native church.

Sporovo. St. Onufriy Church
Sporovo is an agro—town located in the Berezovsky district of the Brest region of Belarus. It is located 11 kilometers southwest of the city of Beloozersk and 25 kilometers southwest of the city of Bereza. This agro-town occupies a picturesque place on the northern shore of the Sporovsky Lake, through which the Yaselda River flows.
The Temple of the Great Onufriy was originally built of wood at the end of the XIX century. This building served as a place of spiritual shelter for local residents, but during the Great Patriotic War the temple was burned down by soldiers. Subsequently, since 1994, the village of Sporovo became part of the newly formed parish of the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Berezovsky district.
On September 15, 2008, the Sporovo community was registered, which began the construction of a new church on the site burned down during the war. The new church is dedicated to St. Onufry the Great. The construction of the temple is made of gas silicate blocks, and it has five small domes, one large dome and a bell tower. The construction of the new temple became an important event for the community, symbolizing the revival of spiritual life.
The consecration of the newly built church took place on December 7, 2013. His Grace Bishop John of Brest and Kobrin performed the consecration, attaching special importance to this event. The new temple has become not only a spiritual center for local residents, but also a place where the memory of those who built and protected it in the past is preserved.
The temple has a bell tower and six small domes, which give it a unique appearance. The color scheme of the temple is carefully selected and harmoniously combines with the environment, emphasizing its architectural beauty.
On the territory of the church there is a monument to the inhabitants of the village of Sporovo, who died during the Second World War, which recalls the tragic events of the past and serves as a place of memory and respect for those who gave their lives for freedom.
