Obodovtsy. The chapel is the tomb of the Bogdanovichs.

The Bogdanovich family lived in the small village of Obodovtsy. Unfortunately, their family estate burned down during the Second World War, and now only picturesque ruins remain of it. The Bogdanovich's household in Obodovtsy was impressive: a huge distillery, cheese production, a wide park, a greenhouse with exotic plants and fruits, and much more. However, none of this has survived to the present day. The only surviving structure was a cozy chapel with elements of Neo-Gothic and several outbuildings.

The Bogdanovich Burial Chapel in the village of Obodovtsy is a historical monument that reflects the rich history of the estate and its owners.

The manor was built at the end of the 19th century, and occupied a central place in a rectangular park surrounded by alleys.

The tomb chapel, located on a hill among natural tree stands, was built around the middle of the 19th century. It had a square shape and was decorated with Neo-Gothic decor, including pilasters and four-petalled rosettes. A narrow fir alley connected the chapel with the park.

With the advent of Soviet power, the estate underwent significant changes: the manor house burned down, and the chapel was looted and used as a warehouse for pesticides. Many rooms of the estate were rebuilt or abandoned, which led to their destruction.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union in the 90s, the collective farm fell into disrepair, and the fate of the farm buildings turned out to be sad. However, the chapel was more fortunate: in 1990 it was returned to the Catholic Church, and its restoration was carried out until 1994.

The remains from the crypt were reburied next to the chapel, which was consecrated in the name of the Mother of God, and currently serves as a branch chapel of the Catholic Church of the Sacred Heart in Ilya.

This is an interesting historical building, a beautifully preserved part of the former Bogdanovich estate and park complex in this village.
