The Church of the Holy Prophet Elijah in the village of Ilya is a monument of wooden architecture of the early 20th century.

The agro-town of Ilya is located 25 kilometers south-east of the city of Vileika. The first mention of Ilya in historical documents dates back to 1475, when the territory belonged to Marshal Bogdan Sakovich. In 1564, Ilya was already mentioned as a place.

In 1828, the wooden Orthodox Church of St. Elijah was built in Ilya, which was reconstructed in the early 20th century and restored in the 1990s.

This monument of folk architecture is presented in the form of a compact rectangular log house with a gable roof, which ends with a crown on a four-sided drum and hip flaps above the altar. Tall rectangular windows cut through vertically sheathed walls supported by tie bars in the walls.

Inside the prayer hall, a small vestibule is separated by partitions, above which the choirs are located. The rectangular apse with side sacristy is highlighted by a wooden three-tiered iconostasis decorated with overhead carvings.

In 2005, the church was "decorated" with plastic siding, which caused some controversy among local residents and architects, as it changed its historical appearance.

Today, the Church of the Holy Prophet Elijah is an important cultural and historical site that attracts the attention of both locals and tourists.
