The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the village of Khudovtsy is a monument of wooden architecture, built in 1894.

The architectural composition of the temple includes a three-frame structure with one apse end. Its elongated axis is formed by a vestibule with a bell tower, a domed prayer hall and a pentagonal apse with side sacristy. Special attention is drawn to the vertical dominants — a multi-tiered bell tower and a powerful two-tiered octagonal light drum, which create a majestic silhouette of the building. A colorful array of domes, including bulbous heads, complete the tents and corners of the main volume, giving the temple a spectacular and memorable look.

The entrance to the temple is decorated with a gable-roofed porch supported by ornate ornamental brackets made of cast iron alloy. The interior of the temple impresses with the intricate shape of the dome on sails, and the apse is bounded by an ornate iconostasis with gilded carvings, which emphasizes its spiritual significance and beauty.

The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary went through difficult times, including the Second World War, when it survived despite attempts by the occupiers to take the golden cross from the dome. Legend has it that the cross was torn out, but miraculously disappeared and was never found.

During the Soviet period, the church was closed for ten years as part of the anti-religious struggle, but was later returned to the parishioners and renovated.

Interestingly, the construction of churches in this region was linked to a train accident that killed people, but Emperor Alexander III and his family miraculously escaped unharmed. Many temples were built in memory of this event, including in Khudovtsy.

Currently, restoration and repair work is underway in the temple, which indicates its importance to the local community and the preservation of cultural heritage. The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary remains an important spiritual and architectural symbol that continues to attract the attention of both locals and tourists.
