Khotimsk. Church of the Holy Trinity.
The Church of the Holy Trinity in Khotymsk has been known since the days of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. The temple was made of wood and has not survived to our time. In 1861, the Church of the Holy Trinity was founded in the small town of Khotimsk in honor of the abolition of serfdom. The church was consecrated in May 1873 on the feast of Pentecost. The consecration was conducted by Archbishop Euseviy of Mogilev. In the church, aisles were created in honor of the Kazan icon of the Mother of God and St. Nicholas. The church was built in the very center of the town on the shopping square, which immediately turned the temple into a city landmark. During Soviet times, the shrine was closed in the 1930s. A bank, a mechanics' school, a warehouse and a district House of Culture worked here. During the Nazi occupation, worship was restored. After the war, the church had a warehouse and a House of Culture. And only after the collapse of the Soviet Union and an appeal to the public authorities in 1992, the shrine returned to the faithful. There is a Sunday school for parishioners at the cathedral.
