Kholkhlovo. The Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The original church of the Kholkhlovo parafia was founded by the Lithuanian Prince Mikhail, the son of Zygimont Keystutovich, in 1437. The construction of the first temple dates back to this time.

The modern building was erected three centuries later. Next to the church is the stone chapel-tomb of the Yazvinskys, built by the local landowner Vikenty Yazvinsky in the style of late classicism in 1846-47. It was he who became the owner of these places in the 19th century.

During this period, the church acquired elements of "folk classicism", including a four-column portico. It is a single-nave, rectangular building with two towers and a pentagonal altar. It is made in the Baroque and classicism styles.

Inside, the decor is restrained and modest. It creates an atmosphere of comfort. The main altar is decorated with a copy of the icon of the Mother of God with her Son, the original of which has been in the National Art Museum of Minsk since 1963.

After the uprising of 1863, the Catholic church was converted into an Orthodox church.

In 1921, the church was returned to the Catholics and rededicated.

In the post-war period, the temple did not operate, the building was used as a warehouse.

In the 1990s, the temple was restored and its activities resumed.

Today, the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the village of Kholkhlovo is an important architectural value and a tourist attraction in Belarus.
