Grodno. The manor of Ponemun.
On the outskirts of Grodno, on the banks of the Neman River, there is a manor called Ponemun. The manor was built in 1771 during the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, as the country residence of the last king of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, Stanislav August Poniatowski.
The construction was carried out according to the project of architect Yu. Alekhnovich in the Baroque style. There was a river and a moat around the estate. The dominant architectural feature was a small palace, with a stalls in front of it. There was a landscape park nearby. The terraces were reinforced with stone. A 19th-century stone chapel in the Gothic Revival style has been built at the entrance. Office and outbuildings were located behind the front of the estate.
The one-story palace was originally built of stone and brick. Then part of the building was replaced with wooden materials. The facade of the palace is decorated with a portico with four columns. The chapel building is rectangular in plan, with an octagonal bell tower rising above it. The main entrance to the temple is designed in the form of a high pointed portal.
The palace of the 18th and 19th centuries, the farm building of the stable, the stone chapel, a fragment of the park and the stone fortifications of the terraces have been preserved to our time. Next to the estate there is a recreation park "Ponemun".
