Grodno. Rumlevo Park.
On the outskirts of Grodno, along the Neman River, there is a monument of landscape art, Rumlevo Park. The park is located on a hill and is bounded by a deep moat and the river bank.
Previously, there was a manor house in the center of the park, which has not survived to our time. But there is a stone round tower made of rubble stone, which was built in the 1880s.
Once these places were part of the Grodno Forest.
During the time of the Russian Empire in the middle of the 19th century, Ignaty Lyakhnitsky sold the territory of the park to Yakov Rumel. Researchers suggest that the name of the park originated from the surname of this owner. Gentry Vidolitsky became the next owner of the forest park. The next owner is General Vasilkovsky, and the general's widow sold the property to a military institution.
In 1914, artillery batteries were located on the territory of the forest park.
After the Peace of Riga in 1921, Grodno was part of the Polish state until 1939 - units of the Polish army are located in the park.
After the war, a children's recreation camp was set up in the park.
In 1990, the Euphemia Karsky Gymnasium was opened in Rumlevo. Pupils and teachers of the gymnasium began to raise the issue of protecting the forest park and giving it a protective status. And in 1993, according to the decision of the Grodno City Council of Deputies, the Rumlevo Forest Park was given the status of a natural monument of local importance.
Century-old oak trees have been preserved in the park.
