Novogrudok district. Lake Svityaz.
South of Novogrudok towards Baranovichi is the most legendary lake in Belarus - Lake Svityaz.
The area of the reservoir is more than two square kilometers. The greatest depth reaches 15 meters. It is 1.7 kilometers long and 1.6 kilometers wide. The shores of the lake are overgrown with century-old oaks and pines, and are covered with moss. There are many berries in the forest: strawberries, blueberries and lingonberries. Oak, birch, ash, maple, spruce and aspen grow mainly among the trees.
The bottom is sandy or muddy near the shore. The Svorotva River flows from Svityazi. Some rare plant species that are listed in the Red Book of Belarus grow in the lake. In Soviet times, in 1970, the lake and the surrounding area were declared an ecological reserve with an area of 847 hectares. The Svityaz boarding house has been built on the shore of Svityaz, and there is a decorated and landscaped beach.
Lake Svityaz has been of interest to humans since ancient times, and there are several legends and legends associated with it. One of the legends says that there is a flooded city at the bottom of the lake.
Many literary and artistic works have been written about Svityaz. Among them, the brilliant poet Adam Mickiewicz wrote a poem called "Svityazyanka." The poet Jan Chechot also wrote the poem "Svityaz", and the poet Thomas Zan wrote the poem "Svityaz–lake".
The famous Soviet bard and film actor Vladimir Vysotsky came to the lake to relax when he was filming in Belarus at the Belarusfilm film studio.
