Monument to the national writer of Belarus Ivan Shamyakin.
Ivan Shamyakin, who was born in 1921 in the Dobrush district, left behind an extensive creative legacy, including such landmark novels as "Heart in the Palm of your Hand" and "Disturbing Happiness". His works, based on the ordinary stories of ordinary people, have become important to several generations of readers, reflecting the problems and important features of his time.
The monument, made in the form of a bronze sculpture, was installed on Mira Avenue. The decision to open the monument was made in 2021, the year of the centenary of the writer's birth. As part of the announced competition for the best monument design, the works of various sculptors and creative teams were presented. The winners were sculptors from the capital, teachers of the Belarusian State Academy of Arts, who worked on the creation of the monument.
Shamyakin wrote such works that do not leave anyone indifferent. And today they are also relevant. These works speak about human relationships.
The monument became not only a tribute to the great writer, but also a reminder of the importance of literature in the life of society.
Ivan Shamyakin really left a significant legacy in Belarusian literature, his works continue to inspire readers. Opening a monument in his hometown is a great way to honor his memory and draw attention to his work.
