The temple built in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in Dobrush is considered by the townspeople to be one of the sights of their city and they are very proud of it.

St. Nicholas Church was built in 1991-1992 in the same style and on the same site as the old church, which operated here back in 1814-1818. The lost temple was three-domed with a bell tower above the altar. However, it was made of wood, not brick like a modern church. The wooden church was destroyed and ravaged during the period of repression and persecution in 1935-1938.

Dobrushsky parish was revived in 1941 during the German occupation. At the request of the parishioners, divine services in wartime were conducted by the rector of the parish to the hegumens. St. Innocent in the kindergarten building, which is still located on the territory of the parish. Up until 1947, the authorities were quite calm about the activities of the parish. In the same year, the church was ordered to return the kindergarten building it occupied. So Dobrush was left without a temple. The priest began searching for a new building for the temple. An unfinished log cabin was chosen, which was converted into a temple at the expense of local residents. However, the authorities did not allow the opening of the church, and the priest, fearing for his life, left the parish. In 1949, the city was left without both a temple and an abbot.

Numerous complaints from parishioners made it possible to achieve the return of the prayer house. In October 1949, the first divine service was held in the prayer house recaptured from the city authorities.

In the early 1990s, the residents of Dobrush finally received permission to erect a new church, and in 1991-1992, a new building of St. Nicholas Cathedral was built with donations from parishioners.

A two-story building with five domes, a complicated roof shape, a semicircular prayer hall, numerous windows of various sizes and a tall bell tower, the residents of the city finally received it after much ordeal. The temple building is built of light brick, topped with gray domes with small golden onion domes with crosses. The bell tower rises above the vestibule. Arched and rectangular windows in contrasting frames serve as facade decorations. The multi-part pointed roof attracts attention. The entrance groups are located on different sides, equipped with steps and canopies. The interior worship space with columns and vaults is decorated with wall paintings. The surrounding area is fenced with a metal fence on a stone base with brick pillars. Very interesting steps of the temple: There are 10 of them, and on each of them all 10 commandments of Jesus Christ are listed in white.

In our difficult times, more and more people are looking for support in faith and in the temple. This is evidenced by the history of the long-term restoration of the temple in the city of Dobrush.
