The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is an object of historical and cultural heritage of the 3rd category.
The temple was built by Marshal Levon Domeyko, who had a manor nearby. At the beginning of the 19th century, the church was built under the guise of a barn, since at that time the construction of Catholic shrines was prohibited.
The temple was founded on May 7, 1822. This date is engraved on a stone embedded in the wall of the temple.
On May 22, 1822, it was consecrated, and its history began from that moment.
During the Second World War, three mines fell on the temple, which led to its partial destruction. Although some services were still being carried out, in 1959 it was converted into a granary, after which it was abandoned and in decline for a long time.
By the end of the 1990s, local residents applied to Moscow for permission to restore the temple. With a salary of 70 rubles, they donated 100 rubles each for repairs.
On May 15, 1990, the shrine was reopened. Now inside the temple you can see magnificent frescoes made using Italian technology, including the image of the Derkovshchinsky Church in its modern form.
The church is surrounded by a fence, the left side of which is closed by a 2-tiered stone bell tower. On the eastern facade, you can see a memorial plaque stating that "S.P. Lyavon, the son of Kazimer Domeyko, the founder of this church," is buried here.
This is a very beautiful historical church! The legacy of our past, which is definitely worth seeing with your own eyes.
Another bright pearl of the Belarusian land...
