Bykhov. Barkolabovskaya Chronicle.
On September 1, 2013, in honor of the Day of Belarusian Literature, a monument dedicated to the Barkolabovskaya Chronicle was unveiled on Oktyabrskaya Square in Bykhov. The composition is an open old book with ancient writings and an image of the icon of the Mother of God of Barkolabovskaya. On the monument, you can read excerpts from the chronicle, which is a unique monument of Belarusian historical and memoir literature of the 16th-17th centuries.
The chronicle was created in the village of Barkolabovo (Bykhov district) and covers the period from 1545 to 1608. Authorship is attributed to the priest Fyodor Filipovich or one of his assistants.
In addition to the events of 1545-1608, the chronicle describes the Lithuanian and Polish Sejms, as well as events related to False Dmitry II. The chronicle reflects the author's desire for the unity of the Ukrainian and Belarusian peoples and opposition to social and national oppression.
