Bykhov. The building of the male gymnasium.

At the end of the 19th century, a male gymnasium was built in the very center of Bykhov. In Soviet times, school No. 1 worked here, and then a children's shelter. Many well-known figures who are well-known far beyond the borders of our country studied in this building: this is the artist Pavel Izmailovich Khaikin, who was born in the village of Nikanavichy, Bykhov district; air marshal Stepan Akimovich Krasovsky, born in the village of Glukhi, Bykhovskyi uyezd; Hero of the Soviet Union, one of the leaders of the partisan movement in Belarus, Kirill Trofimovich Orlovsky, a native of the Myshkavichy village of the modern Kirau District. Now the building houses the "Bykhov District Historian - Local History Museum". The museum was originally housed in a different building, and the modern museum opened in April 2016. The museum has 6 halls. The first hall is dedicated to the archeology and nature of Bykhavshchyna. The second hall tells about Bykhov as a fortress city. The third hall is devoted to ethnography. The fourth one tells about the Bykhov entrance during the revolution. And the fifth is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War. Local history readings have been held at the museum since 2010.
