Alexandrovshchina. The manor house of Zherno.

The Zherno manor was built in 1859 and belonged to several noble families, such as the Muravskys, Belenkovs and Ozerovs. The architecture of this building, made in the neoclassical style, is interesting with a peculiar porch, veranda and attic. Similar structures can be found not only in Belarus — only a few have been preserved throughout Europe.

At the beginning of the 20th century, an agricultural school was opened here. Locals joke that the choice of location was made very seriously — fertile lands, rivers and picturesque landscapes created ideal living conditions. People lived here in prosperity, finding nominal bricks, fragments of stucco and bottles of Austrian wine during excavations.

During the war, the estate served the German garrison, and then was transformed into a school where children from the surrounding villages studied until the 2000s.

The building was then put up for sale. After the sale at auction, the estate ended up in the hands of a businessman. But the owner's dreams of opening a complex with a museum here and attracting tourists never came true, they say he died.

Now it is a private territory, the estate is closed to the public. A woman lives in a house next to the estate, who previously worked in it for decades. She can share the story of this beautiful place, tell the story of the manor itself. She creates her own museum of this place by collecting exhibits related to the estate. In the warmer months, they are put on display to tourists: it turns out to be a kind of open-air museum.
