Zelva. The Church of the Holy Trinity.
The small town of Zelva is located on the Zelvyanka river. Zelva has been known from written sources since the 15th century. The place belonged to the Nemtsevich, Vishnevsky, Ilyinich, Zaberezinsky, Zenovich, Komarovsky, Sapieha and other representatives of the gentry ranks of Belarus.
There is an Orthodox church in the very center of the village of Zelva. The Orthodox church was built in 1815 as a Uniate church. Architect Alexander Hradetsky. The church was built on the foundation of an ancient wooden Orthodox church of the 15th century.
At the beginning of the 20th century, in 1909, the building was rebuilt at the expense of the Synod and parishioners, designed by architect I. Plotnikov. The bell tower was completed. In 1910, the church was consecrated again as an Orthodox church.
There are 2 icons in the church, which were granted by Emperor Alexander II in the 19th century. This is a temple icon of the Holy Trinity and a list of the miraculous Tikhvin Mother of God. According to legend, the Tikhvin icon of the Mother of God was painted by the holy Apostle and Evangelist Luke.
The church is a monument of pseudo-Russian style architecture. The building is made of stone, built of brick. The temple is single-nave. The roof is gable. A multi-tiered bell tower rises above the narthex. The window openings in the prayer hall are rectangular. There are choirs with a wooden fence in the interior above the entrance. The iconostasis is two-tiered.
