Lyskovo. Holy Trinity Church and Missionary Monastery.

There are several interesting architectural and historical monuments in the ancient town of Lyskovo in the Pruzhany district. The most significant architectural monument is the Catholic Church of the Holy Trinity and the monastery of missionaries.

During the time of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in 1527, Matey Klochka, the headman of Zhemoity and governor of Vitebsk, financed a wooden church in Lyskovo. In 1751, Jan Bykhovets handed over this Catholic church to the missionary monks. In 1763-1785, the monks built a new stone architectural complex: a church and a monastery. According to the researchers, the construction was carried out by architect Jan Samuel Becker, who was the court architect of tycoon Alexander Sapieha.

After the third partition of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, the place became part of the Russian Empire. The church and monastery worked as the holy catholic places, and in 1818 a tower was added to the church.  After the anti-Russian uprising of 1830-1831, the monastery was closed by the authorities. And after the uprising of 1863-1864, under the leadership of K. Kalinovsky, the church was also closed. The church building was rebuilt as an Orthodox church by architect P. Zolotarev in the 1880s. After the reconstruction, the Baroque church acquired the features of classicism.

During the time of the Polish state, in 1921, the building was returned to the Catholic faithful. After the war in Soviet times, a medical facility was opened in the monastery, and the church was closed in the 1960s. Gradually, the monument fell into disrepair and now the church is in disrepair.

Near the church is the grave of the poet Francis Karpinsky (1741-1825), which was painted by Napoleon Orda in the 19th century.
