Podorosk. The estate of Chechots-Bokhvits.

In the town of Podorosk on the shore of the lake there is an 18th-century gentry manor, which is considered a monument of historical and cultural heritage of national significance.

The first owners in Podoroska were Pan Klochki, then Grabovsky. It was the Grabovskys who built the first stone manor. In 1843, the estate passed to Puhalsky. Then Elizabeth Puhalskaya transferred the estate to her nephew Albin Chechot, and Albin gave it to his daughter Elizabeth. In 1875, Elizabeth married Roman Bokhvitz, who was the son of the famous scientist and philosopher Florian Bokhvitz. Until 1939, Anton Bokhvits, who was the son of Roman and Elizabeth, was the owner here.

During the Soviet years, the palace first had a school, and later the board of the collective farm and a music school. In 2013, the estate was acquired by an entrepreneur who began restoration and wants to open a museum of gentry culture here.

The estate is separated from the village of Podorosk by the Zelvyanka river. The manor palace was built in the 18th century by the Grabovskis in the classical style. In the old days, as the old-timers claimed, a metal flag with the date 1768 was installed on the palace.

The building is one-story rectangular in plan. It has a symmetrical composition with a two-storey central part, which is highlighted on the main facade by a portico with a triangular pediment. The side wings of the palace are plastered and covered with a hip roof.

In the palace, at the main entrance, there was a lobby with a staircase to the mezzanine. There were 10 large rooms on the ground floor. In the living room, the fireplace was decorated with a sculpture of King John Sobieski. In the rooms there were portraits of representatives of the Chechots and Bokhvites. The dining room was sometimes used as a chapel. The salon in the palace was furnished with expensive Empire-style furniture.

Of the outbuildings, a greenhouse and buildings of a cheese factory and a blacksmith shop have been preserved. There is a park around the palace.
