Zabrezye. The Church of the Annunciation.

The Church of the Annunciation is a monument of the synodal trend of the retrospective Russian style. The temple is a symmetrical axial three-dimensional composition, which consists of four parts: a two-tiered bell tower, a low porch, a main cuboid volume and a pentagonal apse. The main volume of the temple, square in plan, is covered with a four-sided roof with a crown, which gives it a majestic appearance. Against the background of massive rubble walls, 1.3 meters thick, the plastered corner blades, cornice and window frames stand out, which adds a special expressiveness to the temple. There is a rubble fence around the church, which completes the harmonious composition.

In its long history, the Holy Annunciation Church has never been closed. Even in the difficult 1960s, when Orthodoxy was going through difficult times, prayer and prayers were performed within its walls. This fact testifies to the spiritual steadfastness and devotion of the parishioners.

In 1928, the young priest Evstafy Baslyk became the rector of the church, who replaced the old and infirm priest Vladimir Korontsevich. Father Evstafy devoted 19 years to serving in this church, contributing to its history and the spiritual life of the parish.

In 1996, the parish ceased to exist as an independent one and became affiliated with the Church of St. George the Great Martyr in the village of Dubina-Yurzdytskaya. Nevertheless, the Holy Annunciation Church continues to be an important spiritual center for the inhabitants of Zabrezye, preserving the traditions and faith of its parishioners.
