Slovensk. Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.
The town of Slovensk is located on the banks of the Western Berezina river near Volozhin. A stone Orthodox church stands in the center of the village.
The church was consecrated in honor of St. Nicholas. The church was built in 1868-1871. The building is made of stone brick, plastered and whitewashed. It was built in pseudo – Russian style according to a standard project.
After the suppression of the third anti-Russian uprising in these lands after the partitions of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, which took place in 1863-1864, mass construction of small Orthodox churches on the lands of Belarus began according to standard designs. So this building was built according to such a project.
The temple is built according to the canonical composition and has four main parts: a vestibule, a refectory, a prayer hall and an apse. A two-tiered eight-on-four bell tower is built above the narthex, which is completed with a high spire with an onion. The main entrance is attached to the ancestral building in the form of an arched portal with a keel-shaped completion. The refectory has a gable roof.
The main volume of the prayer hall is covered with a sloping four-pitched roof on top of which there is an octagonal drum with an onion. Architectural decor and plastic are borrowed from ancient Russian temples. The building is built on a rubble stone foundation.
There is a stone fence and gate around the church. To the right of the gate is an ancient stone cross.
