In the 15th century, the place belonged to the Soltan family. In the 1580s, the Radziwills acquired the manor and estate.
After the Peace of Riga, it was part of the Polish state from 1921 until the arrival of Soviet power in 1939. To the east of the village was the border between the USSR and Poland.
The temple was built on the outskirts of the town at the local cemetery. The monument was built at the end of the 18th century as a Catholic church. According to some sources, the building was built in 1826 during the time of the Russian Empire. The church was built in the classical style with elements of the neo-Russian style.
In plan, the building has a rectangular shape, covered with a gable roof. The main facade is decorated with a triangular pediment. Above the main volume is a massive onion dome on a multi-faceted drum. The interior consists of three naves. Choirs are located above the entrance. There is a two-tiered bell tower in front of the church: the first tier is made of rubble stone, and the second tier is wooden.
