Shemetovo. Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help.

Between the lakes Svir and Naroch in the Myadel district there is an interesting village of Shemetovo, known since the 15th century and named after its first owners - the Shemetov lords. Then the owners of the town changed several times, and at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries the Sulistrovsky family ruled here. At the beginning of the 18th century the first wooden church was built in Shemetovo. The founders of the Catholic shrine were the then owners of the city, Jadwiga and Christoph Zenovich. Nearby, a few kilometers away, is the village of Zasvir, where there was a large brick church and a Carmelite monastery, and the Carmelites looked after the church in Shemetovo.

In 1816, the new owners, the Sulistrovskys, built a brick chapel. And in 1902, the chapel was rebuilt with money from Boleslav Skirmunt, and in the summer of 1904, the church was consecrated in the name of Our Lady of Perpetual Help.

The church is built in the classical style. The main facade is decorated with four semi-columns of the Doric order. The interior of the church is decorated with stained glass. The altar and pulpit are made using the technique of wood carving with gilding. An ancient organ is located in the choir. Next to the church downstairs is the rector's house made of red brick, where the priest lives. If you come to Shemetovo and the church is closed, just go to the plebania and call the priest. There are beautiful landscapes around the church, and a pond that is a hundred years old.
