Rakov. The museum–gallery of the Yanushkevich brothers.

In the small town of Rakov, which is located in the Volozhinsky district, if you come for a whole day, then you will have something to see and listen to. In addition to numerous monuments of architecture and history, there is a unique private museum of the Yanushkevich brothers.

The museum is located in the center of the town on the former shopping square. The founder of the gallery–museum is Felix Yanushkevich– an artist and restorer. The exhibits collected by Yanushkevich are striking in their uniqueness and diversity. There are thousands of exhibits from different eras from the Belarusian region. And first of all from Rakov and the outskirts.

There is also a monument to Prince Vitovt and Adam Mickiewicz, who created the Yanushkevichi themselves, paintings, books, archaeological monuments and much more. About each exhibit F. Yanushkevich will tell you the whole story.

And of course they will tell you about how Rakov – this small place - was the capital of smuggling in the interwar period of 1921 – 1939. When there were dozens of casinos and nightclubs here. And of course you will hear incredible stories about fellow countrymen, such as Sergei Mikhailovich Pesetsky (1901-1964), who was engaged in smuggling in Rakov and described his adventures in the novel "Lover of the Big Dipper".

In addition to the tour itself, which can last several hours, because Felix Yanushkevich's charisma will not leave anyone indifferent, you can order a lunch with national cuisine and a small piano concert here.
