Radun. Church of the Mother of God Ruzhentsova

The town of Radun was first mentioned in historical sources in the 14th century. The Catholic parish was founded in the 16th century and a wooden church was built. After the Riga Treaty of 1921, Radun passed to Poland. In 1929-1933, a new stone church was built on the site of the old wooden one.

The church was built according to the project of civil engineer Anthony Beik and architect John Borovsky. The church is a three-nave basilica. The temple is 58 meters long, 48 meters high, and 35 meters wide. The main facade is flanked by two towers. The church has a developed transept and a pentagonal apse. The spatial composition is dominated by multi-tiered bell towers. Between the towers there is a triangular pediment with a Gothic rose window in the form of a stained glass window.

Above the entrance there are choirs with a parapet. The arches in the interior have an ornamental coloring. There are several altars made in the knock technique. The room is illuminated using chandeliers and sconces, which were created in the 1930s from art glass in Grodno. There are several ancient icons of the 18th and 19th centuries in the church.

The church is made of stone, built of brick and rubble stone in the eclectic style. It combines several architectural styles, including Gothic, modern and Baroque. The exterior decoration is based on a combination of plastered and stone parts of the church.

There is a stone entrance gate in front of the church.
