Zhirmuny. The Church of the Search for the Holy Cross.

The church is an example of wooden architecture. There were other temples in the place where it is located earlier. One of them, built in the 15th century, was destroyed. Later, in the middle of the 17th century, a new church was rebuilt, but during the next war it was burned down.

The Church of the Finding of the Holy Cross was built at the end of the 18th century, and even 200 years later it has hardly changed. It has for the most part the features of classicism. The facade, supported by two brick columns, is decorated with a portico. Also, the wooden church has arched windows, which is more typical for stone temples. Its architectural lines and details attract the attention of both locals and visitors.

This is a very interesting wooden temple. Inside, it is also beautiful, has a calm meditative atmosphere, which creates suitable conditions for prayer and reflection. There is an ancient organ, which is more than 200 years old, as well as several ancient icons and sculptures.

Next to the church there is a small wooden bell tower from the 19th century.

The area around the temple is well-groomed and beautiful, it is surrounded by a stone fence. The central entrance to the territory is decorated with a 19th-century brama.  Not far from the church there is also a plebania, i.e. the priest's house and the parish administration, built in the early 20th century.

All these architectural monuments also have historical value.

The Church of the Finding of the Holy Cross is not only an ancient wooden church, but also a symbol of faith and unity of the local community. It continues to attract tourists and believers who want to touch its history and atmosphere of spirituality.
