Orsha. Railway station.
Since its foundation, the city of Orsha has been at the crossroads of trade and transport routes. And if in the Middle Ages the main transport function was performed by rivers, then in modern times it is automobile and railway tracks. The first railway line in Orsha was opened in November 1871, when the Smolensk - Minsk branch was opened.
And already in 1902, another strategic highway Vitebsk - Zhlobin was built. An entire railway hub is being built in Orsha with a railway station. The first building of the station was made of wood. And in 1912, on the site of the old station, a two-story station was built according to the project of the architect I. Strukov. In the 1930s, the station was significantly expanded. The building was badly damaged during the war, but was restored and modernized in the post-war period. The interiors are decorated with three reproductions of famous Russian artists. By 2004, the reconstruction of the building was carried out, which mainly took place in the interior. Since 2007, the building has the status of a historical - cultural value. Near the station is the grave of the hero - partisan Konstantin Zaslonov. There is also a vintage P 36 train that you can walk up to and take pictures of.
