Novoelnya. Church of the Nativity of the Virgin.
On the outskirts of the town of Novoelnya, which is located between Dyatlov and Novogrudok, the Orthodox Church of the Nativity of the Virgin was built. The temple was built in 1876-1879 by architect A. Lozinsky on the site of the old Uniate church, which was built in 1755 and died in a fire in 1847.
In 1872, the parishioners of the New Chapel wrote a petition for the construction of a new church in Grodno to the church building committee, where they asked them to build any church, at least a wooden one. They wrote that at their own expense they had built a small chapel in the cemetery, which was thatched. The request was heard and a new stone temple was erected. There was a parish at the church, which included 10 villages, there were 2 parish schools.
The church is made of stone. It was built according to a standard project in pseudo –Russian style. It consists of four main parts: the vestibule, the refectory, the prayer hall and the apse. The prayer hall is a cuboid volume, which is covered with a multifaceted roof. Above the church there is a hexagonal drum with an onion. On the side walls, round shutters and arched window openings are built in two tiers. The facades of the Church have decorations and decor, like ancient Russian temples.
The church is surrounded by a rubble stone fence around the perimeter.
