Mogilev. Real school
In the city of Mogilev, before the revolution, one of the most prestigious educational institutions was the Alexander Real School. Donations for the school were collected from all over the province, and a significant amount was collected. For these funds, a modern building by those standards was built on Kosterna (modern Ordzhonikidze Square). The author of the project was the famous Mogilev architect Vladislav Milyanovsky. The name Alexandrovskoye was given to the school in honor of the 25th anniversary of the reign of Emperor Alexander II.
The college was opened in 1885, and technical specialists were trained here, mainly exact sciences were studied. Only boys studied at the institution. Moreover, of different faiths: Orthodox, Catholics, Lutherans, Jews. Lieutenant Prince A. Obolensky was appointed as the trustee of the school.
After the revolution, a pedagogical college was opened in the building. And then the pedagogical college. The building was badly damaged during the war. In the 1960s, 2 floors were added and a four–storey building was built.
The building of the former real school is associated with many prominent figures. Mikhail Kakhanovich, a teacher and public figure, worked here, and the famous Soviet writer Reuven Fraerman studied.
Now there is a "Social and Humanitarian College" at the Arkady Kuleshov Moscow State University. There is a museum room in the college.
